New York City is unquestionably the fashion capital of the United States and perhaps the entire world. The industry based here generates over $14 billion in annual sales, and sets design trends which are reflected worldwide. The epicenter of the industry is Manhattan’s Garment District, where the majority of NYC’s major fashion labels operate their showrooms. From design and production to wholesaling, no other city has a comparable concentration of fashion businesses, talent and production in a single square mile district.
The Garment District, is also known as the Garment Center, the Fashion District, or the Fashion Center, is a neighborhood located in the Manhattan borough of New York City. The dense concentration of fashion-related uses give the neighborhood—which is generally considered to be between Fifth Avenue and Ninth Avenue, from 34th to 42nd Street. It is anchored by the Jacob Javits center at the extreme west, the General Post Office, Penn Station, and Madison Square Garden in the Center, and the Empire State Building in the east, has an extraordinary concentration of fashion manufacturing and fashion.
As a New York City native business, Influence Print provides a wide array of printing services for many of the fashion houses located here. Many of the fashion designers turn to us to print their lookbooks each season. During Fashion Week held in Bryant Park each August we’re asked to print model comp cards, lookbooks, step and repeat banners, access badges, signage and large format posters.
While New York’s days as the textile-manufacturing capital of America may be over, it remains a hotbed of activity for fashion designers, couture houses, showrooms and Influence Print!
